Here is a summary of the troop activities for the next several months.

February (Monthly Activity Theme is Basic Camping and Camping Merit Badge)

  • 02/02 Troop Meeting, Camping Round Robin for Patrols (Several Philmont participants will attend REI’s Philmont Basics course tonight)
    • Basic Camping skills (Roger)
    • Ten Essentials (Brian)
    • Leave No Trace (Eli)
    • Personal and Patrol Equipment (Mitch)
  • 02/07 Scout Sunday at Messiah Lutheran, 9am to 11am
    • All Scouts and Families encouraged to attend
    • Troop serving Kringle after services (Service Hours counted)
  • 02/09 Troop Meeting
    • IMR Campout signup
    • Camping Merit Badge Round Robin
      • Clothing and Footwear (Mitch)
      • Tents and Sleeping Bags (Eli)
      • Backpacks and Gear Transportation (Roger)
      • Camp Stoves and Meals (Brian)
      • Camp Sanitation and Water Treatment (Logan)
  • 02/13 Merit Badge Tech Registration Opens at 8am
    • Voluntary activity, though carpooling is encouraged
    • Merit Badge Tech will take place at the Kenosha Campus of Gateway Technical College on March 5th, 2016
    • Badges to be offered include: American Business, Architecture, Aviation, Dentistry, Drafting, Electronics, Fire Safety, Home Repairs, Oceanography, Robotics, Soil and Water Conservation, Surveying, Truck Transportation and Welding.
    • Online registration begins at 8am on February 13th and closes at 8pm on February 20th, registration is first come, first served, so don’t delay. There is no wait-list!

    • An $8 fee per participant is collected at the door
  • 02/16 Troop Meeting Camping Relay Games
    • Final signup for IMR campout.
    • Michael and Roger will coordinate events based on prior weeks’ round robins
  • 02/19-21 IMR Fun Lodge Cabin Campout
    • Fee will be $30 per Scout. This is NOT an electronics campout.
    • Plans include opportunity for ice fishing (coordinated by Chad and Mr Helland) and ski outing to Sunburst (coordinated by Eli and Mr Russ).
    • Additional fees required for skiing. See email from Eli, who is coordinating the ski trip.
    • Patrol box inventory and set up will also be confirmed (by patrol).
    • Troop mini-holiday banquet scheduled for Saturday evening. Each patrol is responsible for a side dish to feed the entire troop.
      • Adults are responsible for preparing bacon-wrapped pork loin.
      • Flaming Pineapples patrol is responsible for preparing a side vegetable.
      • Genius patrol is responsible for preparing a potato or starch side dish.
      • Square Knot squad is responsible for preparing a bread.
      • Ninja Pandas patrol is responsible for preparing dessert.
  • 02/23 PLC Meeting
    • SPL, ASPL, and Patrol Leaders required, Scribe desired, other positions voluntary. If Patrol Leader is not available you need to inform your Assistant PL so that they may plan to attend (and not at the last minute!).
  • 02/27 Pack 166 Blue & Gold Banquet and Crossover Ceremony, noon to 3pm at Infusino’s
    • We know of one Scout crossing into the troop.
    • SPL, ASPL, and SM meal fee is covered by troop.
    • Other troop members are invited but must pay their own meal ($12.50)

March (Monthly Theme is Advancement)

  • 03/01 Troop Meeting
    • Patrol breakouts for advancement review and updates, patrol equipment inventory
  • 03/04 Spring Popcorn Sale Fundraiser begins
  • 03/05 Merit Badge Tech Day at Gateway Kenosha (see information listed on 02/13)
  • 03/08 Troop Meeting
    • Elections for all leaders except SPL and ASPL
    • Order of the Arrow Elections
  • 03/13 (Sunday) Scouting for Food Bag Drop (Solo & Ensemble Performance are on Saturday)
  • 03/15 Troop Meeting
  • 03/18-20 Troop Lock-in at Atonement Lutheran Church
    • Scouting for Food Bag Pickup Saturday morning
    • Spring Court of Honor and Troop Banquet Saturday evening (Families encouraged to attend)
  • 03/22 PLC Meeting
    • SPL, ASPL, and Patrol Leaders required, Scribe desired, other positions voluntary. If Patrol Leader is not available you need to inform your Assistant PL so that they may plan to attend (and not at the last minute!).
  • 03/29 NO Troop Meeting, RUSD Spring Break

April (Monthly Theme is Automotive and Mechanical) – Troop Meetings may be off site locations

  • 04/10 Troop Leadership Training for PLC, 9am to 4pm at Sturtevant Village Hall
  • 04/12 Troop Meeting

  • 06/24-26 Madison Day Trip, camping at Camp Indian Trails, Janesville
  • 07/24-30 Summer Camp at Ed Bryant Scout Reservation, Mauston, WI
