Troop Updates - January 2016

Scouts and Families—

Here is a summary of the troop activities for the next several months.

January (Monthly Activity Theme is Climbing, Knots, and Pioneering)

01/12 Troop Meeting, review of Climbing knots and equipment
01/15 (Friday) Adventure Rock Overnight Climbing Lock-in, meet at the Church at 6:30pm Friday, return by 9:00am Saturday.
- Fee is $35 per Scout plus Culver’s or Subway money. Climbing Merit Badge is an additional $15 and I must know about it by the 01/12 meeting.
- I know several Scouts have activities early Saturday, so arrangements can be made to release them as early as 6am if a parent picks them up at Adventure Rock. Others have conflicts with Friday night, so arrangements can also be made for them to arrive later if transportation is provided.
- Current Scouts signed up, total of 17, are:
  - Square Knot Squad: Adam, Steven, Grant, Bryce, and Peter. Unknown are Gavin, Ian, and Chad.
  - Ninja Pandas Patrol: Ben L., Justin, Luke, Vinnie, Michael. Unknown are Robby, Sean, Charles.
  - Flaming Pineapples Patrol: JohnMichael, Dean, and Reese. Unknown are Logan, Austin, Roger, and Ben N.
  - Genius Patrol: Brian, Mitch, Cameron, and Kyle. Unknown are Max and Ricky.
- Current drivers are Frank and myself, capacity of 12. We need additional drivers, who can overnight with us or simply drop off and pick up.
01/19 Troop Meeting, knots and/or pioneering instruction by patrol
01/26 PLC Meeting
- SPL, ASPL, and Patrol Leaders required, Scribe desired, other positions voluntary. If Patrol Leader is not available you need to inform your Assistant PL so that they may plan to attend (and not at the last minute!).

February (Monthly Activity Theme is Basic Camping and Camping Merit Badge)

02/02 Troop Meeting
- Basic Camping skills
- Ten Essentials
- Leave No Trace
- Personal and Patrol Equipment
02/06 Merit Badge Tech Registration Opens at 8am (TBC)
02/07 Scout Sunday at Messiah Lutheran (TBC)
- All Scouts and Families encouraged to attend
- Troop serving Kringle after services (Service Hours counted)
02/09 Troop Meeting
- Camping Merit Badge Round Robin demonstrations by Robby, Logan, Cameron, (let me know which demo/discussion you desire, first come, first served)
  - Clothing and Footwear – Mitch
  - Tents and Sleeping Bags – Eli
  - Backpacks and Gear Transportation –
  - Camp Stoves and Meals –
  - Camp Sanitation and Water Treatment –
02/16 Troop Meeting
02/19-21 IMR Fun Lodge Cabin Campout
- Fee will be $30 per Scout.
- Plans include opportunity for ice fishing or ski outing to Sunburst(?). Additional fees required for skiing.
02/23 PLC Meeting

March (Monthly Theme is Advancement)

03/01 Troop Meeting
- Patrol breakouts for advancement review and updates, patrol equipment inventory
03/05 Merit Badge Tech Day at Gateway Kenosha
03/08 Troop Meeting
- Patrol Leader Elections
- Order of the Arrow Elections
03/13 (Sunday) Scouting for Food Bag Drop (Solo & Ensemble Performance are on Saturday)
03/15 Troop Meeting
03/18-20 Troop Lock-in at Location TBD (locally)
- Scouting for Food Bag Pickup Saturday morning
- Spring Court of Honor and Troop Banquet Saturday evening (Families invited)
03/22 PLC Meeting
